I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since Lori and Todd were married! I’ve been working on Lori and Todd’s wedding album and realized I hadn’t blogged their images yet! Their Lexington wedding was on a perfect day in April, and I mean PERFECT. The weather was what every bride hopes for on her big day- warm with a hint of coolness in the air, sunny, with a nice little breeze and just a few wispy clouds in the sky. Just thinking about it makes me want to go sunbath in the yard and feel that warm sunshine, although it’s in the 40s today! Come on spring, I know you are there somewhere!!!
I clicked with Lori right from the start. She met me at my home office to go over her wedding day details and we talked for hours. By the day of her wedding, I felt like we were old friends, which made it even more fun. Lori is so positive and smart, and she is such a caring and compassionate person. I feel really lucky to say that all of my brides and grooms are some of the nicest people you will ever meet (and their family and friends too)! I’ve had so many people ask to hear bridezilla stories, but I really have such a hard time coming up with any, because my clients are all so wonderful and don’t give me much to complain about! Lori was the total opposite of a bridezilla, and Todd was so great to work with and made my job so easy! I thought it was so sweet how Lori made sure to include her son in so many of the wedding day rituals, like the cake cutting. She explained that they were becoming a family on their wedding day, and so her son would be playing a big part in the day. I am always struck by how weddings are meaningful not only because of a couple solidifying their union, but because it is an opportunity to be with all of the people you love. You may never be surrounded by so many people that you love all at once ever again in your life, and it’s worth celebrating that in and of itself.
It was beautiful to see Lori and Todd’s gigantic smiles all throughout their wedding day. They just soaked up every second with their family and friends and you could feel that they weren’t taking any of it for granted. They were married at a local church and had their reception on Todd’s mother’s property in the country. The big old barn was the perfect place for their party, and they even had a fire pit with s’mores! I love old farms and everything outdoors, so this wedding was so up my alley. It was clear Lori and Todd wanted to just have a great time, celebrate and relax with their family and friends. Mission accomplished! Thank you Alexa Stutts for a great job 2nd shooting!
