Photo from Saturday’s wedding captured by my super talented 2nd photographer, Scott Muthersbaugh.
One question I think a lot of brides and prospective clients forget to ask their photographer is, “how long will it take before I get to see my photos?” This is a very important question. I used to cringe at this question because sometimes it was hard to offer up a consistent answer. It depended on the season and how behind I was on my editing.
At the end of 2014, I decided my goal for 2015 was to decrease my turnover time. In March, I hired my amazing office assistant, Carol. She is a talented and super fast editor, and I couldn’t be more thankful for her hard work! I enjoyed running my business on my own for 6 years, but bringing on reliable helpers has been the best decision I have ever made for my business. Team work gets the job done so much more efficiently!
We’ve got a great system down now, and I can confidently tell my wedding clients that they will have their images in 1-2 weeks, and for portrait clients, within a few days. This makes me SO HAPPY! Everyone knows how hard it is to wait in anticipation to see those wedding photos. You get back from your honeymoon and you wish to relive the day. It goes by so incredibly fast, and I know in my case, I wanted to go through all of the wonderful moments one by one to remember everything that happened. It felt like such a whirlwind. I always try to put myself in the other person’s shoes and ask myself what I would want if I were them. If I were a bride waiting on my wedding photos, I would want them yesterday! : )
I love the feedback I get from clients when they get their images within a few days of their wedding. This week, I shot a wedding on Saturday and had the couple’s images uploaded by Tuesday night. It doesn’t get much faster than that. The industry average is probably somewhere between 4-8 weeks, and to have client’s images ready within days of the wedding is unheard of. I love being able to offer this quick turn-around to my clients so they aren’t kept waiting!
