Jenna and Robert are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever photographed. When you see them together, you just know that they are soul mates. There’s something about that big gorgeous smile that Jenna has, it’s even more genuine and joyful and sparkling when she is looking at Robert. Robert has the look of pure contentment on his face when he holds Jenna close. What they have is beautiful and real, and so much fun to photograph. During their engagement session, I got a kick out of hearing the story of how they met. I believe it was some sort of conference and Robert couldn’t leave Jenna alone, but she was trying her best to avoid him! How things change! : ) It was so wonderful working with this sweet couple and meeting all of their fabulous family and friends. I got a warm and friendly vibe from everyone I encountered.
I had always wanted to shoot a wedding at the beautiful Basilica of Saint Lawrence in downtown Asheville and the Grove Park Inn- what a winning combo! My family moved to Asheville when I was a junior in high school, and I always took notice of the Basilica when I was downtown. I even took a few photos in front of the rose garden there after my high school graduation. I think it is the most beautiful church in Asheville and was overjoyed to finally photograph a wedding there. It did not disappoint! The Grove Park Inn is also one of my favorite places to see in Asheville. My family always visits when the ginger bread house competition is happening during the holidays and sit in the rocking chairs in front of the giant fireplace with a hot chocolate. I remember walking up to the front of the Grove Park Inn right after moving to North Carolina from Texas, and it started snowing. If you have ever been to Houston, you know it rarely ever snows. When it does snow, it’s a big event, even if it doesn’t stick at all! Well, I thought the snow was pollen coming out of the trees at first!
Jenna and Robert’s wedding was the first wedding I shot after having my baby in February. I was nervous about being away from Heidi for the whole day since she was only 6 weeks old at the time (in April) but it was so nice to be back doing one of my favorite things in the world, photographing a wedding!! I was happy to find that as soon as I got my camera out, I fell right back into photographer mode and had a blast documenting the day, knowing Heidi was well taken care of by my husband and parents. My second shooter, Courtney Pottter Cook, was a big help and got some amazing shots. Thank you Courtney! Here are a few of my favorite images from Jenna & Robert’s Grove Park Inn wedding.
I went to high school and ran track with Omar in the photo above! It was a blast seeing him the first time since our high school graduation was 10 years ago!!!! What?!
There was a crazy beautiful sunset!I think the next sequence of photos is so funny… you would have thought the garter was radioactive or something!
A little late on the attempt, Omar…
