Wow, what a year it’s been! I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that we are now in 2015! Anyone else?? I feel like it should only be April or something. This year flew by with a speed that took me by surprise. This year was packed with emotion and change. Tumultuous is the word that comes to mind, for I experienced the highest high and lowest low of my entire life with the birth of my daughter and the death of my brother within only 3 months of each other. It has been a struggle but there have been many moments of joy despite the darkness. It reminds me of that quote by Charles Dickens from A Tale of Two Cities: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. . . .” These experiences have made me even more committed to my goal of capturing memories for families for now I can truly and fully appreciate the power of a photograph. I have too many words to put them all here and will save them for another more personal post about 2014.
I feel like my work has been so important to helping me carry on through this difficult year. My photography business is an extension of my heart and soul. I love capturing joy with my camera and putting it on paper. There’s something so refreshing about seeing love up close, witnessing a family so glad to join hands around a new couple. Whatever sadness I have is forgotten when I pick up my camera and look for the joy. This year I had a lighter load since I took some time to be with my new baby, and I took every opportunity to 2nd shoot with other photographers that I admire. I am so thankful that my job puts me in contact with some of the most kind, fun-loving and genuine people I’ve ever met. I hope I never take it for granted. I had the pleasure of working with some truly amazing clients, and I have loved getting to know each and every one of you. Thank you for giving me a peek into your beautiful lives and choosing me to capturing your most cherished memories. It fills my heart with joy.
2015 has more big changes in store, and I’m excited to dive into the fresh new year. I’m happy to say that my business has gotten to the point that I can’t handle it alone, and I will be bringing on some help in 2015. I’ll be hiring an office assistant this year to help with my growing work load. Woohoo!!!!! I’ve been in business for over 5 years now, and am really excited to set some new goals and move forward with a teammate! 2015 is booking up quickly and I’m ready to hit the ground running. Stay tuned for my favorite personal moments of 2014 soon… it’s going to be a doozy.
