Asheville Wedding at The Crest Center & Pavilion: Suzanne + Bill

The Crest Center, Ashville, NC

I know Suzanne from all the way back in high school.  I ran cross-country with her and her older sister, Elizabeth.  I have a lot of happy memories with the cross-country girls, despite all the crazy physical challenges we went through together.  I suppose that sort of thing bonds you together, though!  I’m sure I’ve never done a harder workout than the ones I did with the cross-country team at T.C. Roberson in Asheville, except maybe child birth!  haha  We had a pretty amazing team and we worked our butts off.  When I first moved to Asheville my junior year, I was amazed that the “cool down” was running straight up a mountain for half a mile.  It was certainly a change from cross-country practice in flat-as-a-pancake Texas where I came from!  I admired all of those girls for their determination and willingness to challenge themselves.  I’m still amazed at what we all accomplished as teenagers!  I feel like I learned so much about the power of your thoughts and how thinking positively can help you reach physical goals.  Anyway, I was really excited when Suzanne got in touch with me years later about her wedding!

Suzanne and Bill were married at The Crest Center, on a mountainside in Asheville.  It was a beautiful overcast day, and the light shining through the clouds onto the mountains in the distance was so beautiful.  Sunny days are great, but overcast days can produce some magical light!  I hadn’t met Bill until the wedding day, but I liked him immediately when I saw his adorable expression when he saw Suzanne for the first time during their ‘first look’ before the ceremony.  I know a lot of couples like to stick with tradition and see each other during the walk down the aisle, but I really love first looks because it’s a more private moment and it doesn’t take away from that special moment during the ceremony at all.  In fact, I have noticed it makes the whole day go more smoothly, and it’s just a really nice quiet moment for the bride and groom to share before the whirlwind of the wedding day make it feel like everything is happening in fast motion.  I did a first look on my own wedding day, and was so glad to have that moment as a couple to just enjoy the moment without the pressure of everyone’s eyes on us.

Suzanne and Bill were grinning ear to ear the entire day, surrounded by all of their wonderful family and friends.  It was so much fun documenting all of the fun for this fantastic, sweet couple.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.
