On Saturday evening after I returned home from shooting a wedding in Chapel Hill, Aaron and I realized we didn’t have anything tying us down on Sunday, so we took off for Roaring Gap, where my family has an old farm house. It is my favorite place on earth, and the one place I really call home since I’ve been there every summer for my entire life. When I was growing up, we lived in Texas and would make the 3 day trek across the country to visit my grandparents at Roaring Gap. Now that I live in NC, I try to go as much as possible. This has been a very busy summer, so it’s only the 2nd time I’ve visited. It’s really peaceful, swinging in the hammock or sitting on the porch and listening to the hum of the crickets and watching the golden light in the meadow. I really love it.

My mom planted a little apple tree several years ago, and the tree almost didn’t make it, since my mom and dad both accidentally ran over it with their cars. Today it’s big and full of apples, and they were perfectly ripe this weekend, so we picked a bunch and are going to make an apple pie. YUM.
