This February I had the pleasure of enjoying a canoe ride along the Eno River in Durham with guide Banks Dixon. I had been to the Eno when I was in college since it is just 20 minutes or so from UNC-Chapel Hill, and I remember the beautiful river and hiking trails with their lush greenery. Winter is a bit different along the Eno, but it is still a sight to see. Banks Dixon is the owner of Frog Hollow Outdoors, a guide service based out of Durham that takes folks on canoe and kayak trips around the Triangle and beyond. The Eno River State Park is a nice patch of wilderness right in the middle of Durham, and a lot of people don’t even know it’s there.
